A 21st Century “gspl txt” PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rachel K.

A couple of months ago my cell phone went missing. I was on break at work when I first discovered that it was gone. The pocket of my backpack in which it usually resides was unzipped. That evening, I called my number from my grandfather’s cell phone, and it went right to the voice mail. But the next time I tried, it rang several times. My suspicions were confirmed when a few minutes later I got two text messages on my grandfather’s phone, “Leave me alone,” and “Don’t EVER call me again.”

The American (Day)Dream PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rachel K.

I’ve learned a lot of things since I started working as a nurse. I learned about medications, diseases, human nature, and life and death. I’ve learned a lot about reality, And I’ve learned about reality shows. Now, I didn’t watch TV growing up, but I had heard the term “reality show,” and lately I’ve seen snippets of reality shows that my patients were watching. That is, I thought they must be reality shows, because they appeared to be attempting to seem real, or in other words, to disguise sensationalism as reality. An Excellent Savior PDF Print E-mail
Written by A. C. Rose

"…A more excellent name…a more excellent ministry…a more excellent sacrifice…the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel” (Heb 1:4; 8:6; 11:4; 12:24).

It is in the Epistle to the Hebrews especially that His excellencies are displayed—to the Hebrews, to whom He was unattractive and unwelcome. They gazed on the root sprouting from the dry ground, thought of their bygone bramble-king, and longed for the cedars of Lebanon (Jud 9:14)…This is the burden of the Holy Spirit…He alternates from throne to cross. He travels from the mighty present into the misty past, and onward to the eternal future. But there is a constancy in His task—the unveiling of the excellencies of Emmanuel.

“I was a printer by trade,” said Mert Walcott, a missionary to the Belgian Congo with his wife Jane for nearly forty years. “Now, with computers, you can do so much you don’t really need typewriters.”

Mert and Jane first entered the Belgian Congo in 1954 to help with a printing ministry. Mert worked as a line-type operator in Nyankunde, a city in the north of Congo bordering Tanzania. They remained in Africa until 1992, and have been able to trek back to the area several times over the last fifteen years.
