Mert & Jane Walcott, Belgian Congo PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ben B.

“I was a printer by trade,” said Mert Walcott, a missionary to the Belgian Congo with his wife Jane for nearly forty years. “Now, with computers, you can do so much you don’t really need typewriters.”

Mert and Jane first entered the Belgian Congo in 1954 to help with a printing ministry. Mert worked as a line-type operator in Nyankunde, a city in the north of Congo bordering Tanzania. Bob and Lois Sawyer, Spain PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ben B.

Bob and Lois Sawyer were first approached with the idea of traveling to Spain as missionaries in 1985 when they were attending the Discipleship Internship Training Program in southern California.

A couple approached Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer with the suggestion that the Sawyers teach English as a second language in Spain. The Life of William MacDonald

"True Christianity is an all-out commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Savior is not looking for men and women who will give their spare evenings to Him—or their weekends—or their years of retirement. Rather He seeks those who will give Him first place in their lives."

These forceful words come from the first chapter of William MacDonald's book, True Discipleship. The late Mr. MacDonald wrote over eighty works in his lifetime, and they are all characterized by a similar brisk and bold presentation. But Mr. MacDonald did not merely put such impacting words to paper. He lived them out in his own life.

Persecuted Church in Burma Presses On

After the news of Myanmar’s political and economical turmoil hit the Western world, it is important to note that although there is a great deal of religious persecution, there is also a resurgence of evangelical Christianity in this country formerly known as Burma. In a recent visit to Myanmar, a visiting preacher observed zealous Christian youth, well-equipped elders, and a motivated Christian body as a whole. There were weaknesses and a multitude of difficulties along with much strength.
