Victory Over Death
When you think of death does it disturb you or free you? This may sound like an odd question, but it’s an important question that helps us see where our hope lies.
Romans 6:7 says, “For one who has died has been set free from sin.”
Is that true for you?
The next verse says, “Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him.”
Will you live with Him?
Jesus said, “I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death aiend Hades,”. He has the keys to both Heaven and Hell. But fear not! He tells us, “the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God” (Rom. 6:10). We know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will NEVER die again. Death no longer has dominion over Him or over us as we put our trust in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For our sake He (God the Father) made Him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” This means that in trusting Christ for our righteousness we are no longer condemned and unrighteous but clean. In Christ, we have triumphed over sin and death. With confidence we can say with Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:54-57,
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
“The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”
